Aiming at the low efficiency and subjective factors of traditional safety firing zone drawing method, this paper established an automatic identification and drawing of safety firing zone map system by using image recognition technology and safety shot drawing specification based on high-resolution satellite imagery. This system defined areas in satellite imagery as safety and non-safety areas. Since the satellite image in the non-safety area had strong backscattering characteristics and high gray value compared with the background area, the image recognition operations such as defogging, graying, image segmentation and denoising were used to recognize the safety and non-safety area for realizing the initial identification of safety areas. On this basis, according to specifications for drawing safety firing area map combined with artificial correction, the automatic drawing of anti-aircraft gun safety firing zone at the weather modification sites was realized. The application results show that the safety firing zone drawing assistant system combined with image recognition technology and Access database management technology, could effectively utilize high-resolution satellite imagery. The recognition process was fast and result was accurate. It also had good effects on different types of work sites and was beneficial to information management of the shot graph, and met the safety shot boundary graph standard and could be applied to artificial weather-affecting operations.
